Overview
Unlike other features available within the 'Matter Navigation Bar', 'Custom Data' is accessible through text-labelled tabs, as per the example below.
Custom Data is a way of storing important information within a matter and can be arranged in a number of different ways. For example, you will most certainly want to record settlement dates for conveyancing matters, and this can be done through a custom data field.
When you click on a label to access Custom Data, you will see all the fields that have been created for this particular matter type, as per the screenshot above. In Actionstep, this collection of data fields is referred to as a 'Custom Data Collection' and the individual text fields are referred to as 'Custom Data Fields'. These fields also act as merge fields, which you can use to draw data from different locations within the system. To learn more, please see Custom Data.
