In this article, you will learn how to record trust payments within Actionstep.
Getting Started
To pay funds out of the trust account, click on the 'Global Create Button' , click on 'Show all...' and then select 'Make Payment' from under 'Trust Accounting'.
Alternatively, you can hover over 'Trust' on the 'Global Navigation Bar' and then select 'Make Payments' from under 'Payments'.
Processing the Payment
You'll firstly need to select a matter, and a trust account. Once you have selected/opened a trust account, you can proceed to fill in the other fields. Depending on the jurisdictional plugin you are using, you may be able to pay out in excess of the available funds by using the 'Firm's interest in trust'.
For the 'Reason for payment' field, you can create templates if you find yourself frequently using the same reason. These can also be created from within the trust accounting admin page.
Depending on the jurisdiction you report to, you may be required to fill out EFT requisitions when selecting 'Electronic Funds Transfer' as the payment method.
As with receipts, you can also upload reference documents against the payment record as well.
When you have filled in all of the relevant fields and uploaded any necessary documents, click 'Save' to record the payment. You can also check the 'Create another payment' box to immediately create another afterwards.
