This article includes instructions relating to our Actionstep express product. If you are using the Practice Pro + Accounting Actionstep product please see our Adding Calendars article.
In this article, you will learn how to enable Trust Accounting in Your Actionstep System.
Overview
Plugin Selection
You are able to select your jurisdictional when you first configure trust accounting. You can do so by navigating to:
Admin -> Trust Accounting
When you expand the drop-down field for 'Jurisdiction' you will see the full selection of plugins that Actionstep currently offers. If your jurisdiction is missing from list, please contact support@actionstep.com for assistance.
We strongly advise that you leave the remain settings for 'System Account Mapping' as is. These accounts already exist within the system and allow double entry for any trust-related transactions. If you still need to change the mapping for these accounts, please do so under the guidance of a qualified trust accountant.
Changing the Plugin
You may need to temporarily your jurisdictional plugin to a different one to accommodate for data fixes or to process an import. To do this, please contact support@actionstep.com for assistance.
Please note that the above request will need to be lodged by an admin user with subscription authority.
Selecting System Accounts
By default, Actionstep will configure a Trust Liability and Trust Transfers account to be used in processing your trust transactions. If you would prefer that these system accounts be linked to different general ledger accounts you can make those changes here. We recommend against making these changes without first consulting with an accounting professional.
