In this article, you will learn how to open a trust account within a matter. This is not to be confused with setting up the trust account itself, which you will have to do first before reviewing this article. Please see Configuring Trust Bank Accounts for more information.
Opening the Account
To open a trust account for a specified matter, you will need to access the matter first. Once you have opened the matter, click on the trust accounting icon within the 'Matter Navigation Bar'. If you have not already opened an account for this matter, the trust overview will look similar to this:
To open an account, click on 'Add an account' as highlighted in the screenshot above.
You'll be able to choose from one of the open trust accounts, and specify the date at which the trust account was opened for the specified matter (it would usually match the date of entry), as well as add any notes about the account.
Once you've opened the account, your overview will be updated and a new set of options will be available on the sidebar to the left.
