Overview
When working within Actionstep you may find that you are sometimes unable to make certain changes to contact records. In this article, we'll take a look at why that may happen and how to get around it.
Accessing Contacts from Matters
When accessing contacts from matter screens such as the matter participants screen or the matter overview screen Actionstep prohibits users from updating the name of a contact.
NOTE Actionstep limits the editing of contacts accessed from a matter by design. This is intended to prevent users from mistakenly renaming a contact when they should change which contact is associated with a role. |
When accessing a contact from a matter you can see that the contact record is locked in the URL.
Editing Contacts Associated with Matters
If you do need to update the name fields associated with a matter contact there are a few ways to do that.
Access the contact using the quick search window.
Remove the lock from the URL
If you do wish to remove the matter contact restriction you can remove "/locked/true" from the end of the URL and refresh. This will remove the editing lock and you can make changes as you normally would.
