Overview
The Step List Report displays each step and its associated information for a selected matter type. The information includes:
- Tasks
- Documents
- Notifications
- Participants
- Related matters
- Data fields
Your matter types can have a lot of information set to be created or prompt the user to fill in as the matter is moved through a step. This report will help you understand what has been configured for each step.
Accessing the Step List Report
The Step List Report is located at Reports > Matter Reports in the General category.
Report Configuration Options
The only configuration required for the Step List Report is the selection of a matter type. The matter type dropdown allows for the selection of any matter type in your system. The report will display all steps of the selected matter type.
Producing the Step List Report
The Step List Report is displayed on-screen when accessed. Changing the matter type selection changes the report information to that of the selected matter type.
Selecting the Print button will launch your browser's print dialog.
Understanding the Output of the Step List Report
Information is displayed for each step in the selected matter type.
The information displayed will vary depending on if it is information about a Step, Tasks, Documents, Notifications, Participants, Related Matters or Matter data.
Step Information
The name of the step is displayed at the top of each step's information.
Tasks
The Tasks section lists information about each task that is assigned on the given step.
In the bold words next to the bullet is the Task Name. Below the task name in parentheses is the (Task Description).
Assigned To |
The participant type to which the task is assigned. |
Priority |
The Priority assigned to the task. |
Due Days Ahead |
The number of days after the workflow is moved to this step that the task is due. |
Estimated Hours |
This is a deprecated feature. You can no longer assign an Estimate of the Hours that it will take to complete a task. Please ignore this. |
Documents
The Documents section displays all documents that are configured to be generated on the given step. Each bullet displays the Document Name [Document file name].
The document file name is the name of the file (normally a Word document) that is the basis of the template.
Notifications
The Notifications section provides details on any automatic email sent on a given step.

Subject of the automatic email. |

The message body text of the automatic email. |
Participants
The Participants section provides details on the participants that can be designated or edited on a give step.
Name |
The name of the participant type. |
Description |
The description of the participant type. |
Is Required |
Denotes whether it is required to add a contact to this participant type on the step. |
Related Actions
The Related Actions section provides details on the related matter types that a user will be prompted to or required to create on the given step.
Name |
The name of the related matter type. |
Description |
The description of the related matter type. |
Is Required |
Denoted whether it is required to relate the associated matter type on the given step. |
Data Fields
The Data Fields section provides information on each data field that can edited on the given step. The first bullet displays the name of the fields' data collection.
Field Label |
The label for the data field displayed on the step. |
Description |
The description of the data field. |
Is Required |
Denotes whether the data field is required to be populated on that step. |
