Overview
The Scratchpad allows you to enter notes in your Actionstep system. These notes can only be seen by you. Once created, they can be converted into time entries, file notes, emails and other items using the Smart Create function.
Accressing the Scratchpad
The Scratchpad is located on the Home screen.
Using the Scratchpad
Add Note Button |
The Add New button creates a new note. It places your cursor in the new note pane, so you can start typing immediately. Pressing Enter creates a new line. The note will save automatically when you click away from the text entry box. |
None Filter |
Selecting the None filter hides all notes on the screen. |
Top 5 Filter |
The Top 5 Filter makes the screen display only 5 notes. |
All Filter |
The All Filter displays all notes. |
Archived Filter |
The Archived Filter displays notes that have been archived. It's a good idea to archive notes you would like to be saved but removed from view. |
Set Reminder |
When the cursor hovers on a note the Set Reminder button displays. Selecting the button launches a set reminder popup. This allows you to set a time and method for the reminder. Any time and date can be selected. Reminders can be in the form of an Actionstep system popup or an email reminder. For Popups, the reminder appears in the Actionstep alert popup.
|
Archive |
When hovering over a note, the Archive option will display. This removes notes from view unless the Archive Filter is selected. This is a good way to save notes that do not need your immediate attention. |
Trash Icon |
Next to Archive is a trash can icon. This is used to permanently delete the selected scratchpad note. |
Smart Create |
Smart Create can be accessed by the green plus sign. These can be used to populate description for time and expense/disbursement entries, the text of a file note, the subject of an email, the title of an appointment, the name of a task, and the name of a matter. |
