Overview
The Matter Budget Analysis compares quotes and orders to actual costs and income. The report offers a variance percentage to glean how much money was collected vs. how much was expected. This report is useful for seeing the accuracy of your quoting for jobs along with the rate of delivery on each order made.

Accessing the Matter Budget Analysis Report
The Matter Budget Analysis Report is located at Reports > Matter Reports in the Matter Financial category.
Report Configuration Options
Enter Matter |
This field is used to select the matter for which the report is run. This is accomplished by entering the ID number for the matter.

Format Selector |
The report can be downloaded in PDF or Excel the format selector designates the format in which the report is downloaded. |

Submit | Upon selecting Submit, the report is downloaded in the selected format. |

Header Information
The header displays:
- The name of the report
- The name and address from your company's contact record
- The date and time the report was generated
- The Matter ID for which the report was run
General Information Table
Action Name | Name of the matter for which the report was generated |
Description | The Matter type for the selected matter |
Created | The date the selected matter was created |
Client | The name of the Client participant for the selected matter |
Current Step | The current workflow step of the selected matter |
Income Table
Income (Account) | Each table row references a single general ledger income account. This column displays the account number and name. The column will display all general ledger accounts used in sales invoices. |
Quotes | Total amount on quotes, created in Accounting > Sales > Quote, attributed to the general ledger account for the table row |
Orders | Total amount on orders, created in Accounting > Sales > Order, attributed to the general ledger account for the table row |
Actual | The income/payment amount received to the general ledger account for the table row. |
Actual vs. Quote - Variance | The quote variance column compares the amount that was quoted to the actual income for the account row. The calculation is Quotes minus Actual. Negative amounts are displayed in parentheses. |
Actual vs. Quote - % | The percent of income received to account for the table row. The calculation is Quote Variance divided by Quotes. |
Actual vs. Order - Variance | The Order Variance column compares the amount that was ordered to the actual income for the account row. The calculation is Orders minus Actual. Negative amounts are displayed in parentheses. |
Actual vs. Order - % | The percent of income received to account for the table row. The calculation is Order Variance divided by Orders. |
Cost of Sales & Expense Table
Income (Account) | Each table row references a single general ledger expense account. This column displays the account number and name. The column will display all general ledger accounts used in purchase/vendor invoices. |
Quotes | Total amount on quotes, created in Accounting > Purchases > Quote, attributed to the general ledger account for the table row |
Orders | Total amount on orders, created in Accounting > Purchases > Order, attributed to the general ledger account for the table row |
Actual | The amount paid from the general ledger account for the table row. |
Actual vs. Quote - Variance | The quote variance column compares the amount that was quoted to the actual payment from the account row. The calculation is Quotes minus Actual. Negative amounts are displayed in parentheses. |
Actual vs. Quote - % | The percent of payments from the account for the table row. The calculation is Quote Variance divided by Quotes. |
Actual vs. Order - Variance | The Order Variance column compares the amount that was ordered to the actual amount paid for the account row. The calculation is Orders minus Actual. Negative amounts are displayed in parentheses. |
Actual vs. Order - % | The percent of payments made from the account for the table row. The calculation is Order Variance divided by Orders. |
