Overview
There are a number of different types of data that you can use to create fields on your matter types or participant tyes.
In this article, we will focus on how the Linked Calendar Appointment data field can benefit your practice.
Setting up Linked Calendar Appointment
First, you'll want to create a data collection for your matter type of your choice. For more information on creating data collections, please see this article on Configuring Matter Data on your Matter Types.
If you have already created a data collection for your matter type, you'll want to go to Admin > Matter Types > Select the Matter Type your data collection is located in > Matter Data > Select "Edit" by the data collection of your choice.
Next, you'll scroll down to the section "Fields". Click on "Add Row" at the very bottom of the field list. You'll want to create a name and label for your linked calendar appointment field. Remember, field names cannot be edited once saved because of dependencies in the system. (e.g. merge fields).
After saving, navigate to a matter under this specific matter type. Select the data collection you just added the "Linked Calendar Appointment" data field to. You'll now see an option to "Create New Appointment" in your data collection. When you click on this button, the "Create New Appointment" screen for calendar appointments will appear.
It will automatically associate the linked calendar appointment with the matter you're currently editing. Enter the necessary details and hit "Create Appointment". Now, if you go to the calendar page, you will see the calendar appointment you created in your data collection!
The Linked Calendar Appointment can save you time when creating important dates in your system. Instead of making a note of the appointment date in your data collection as a reminder to document later, you can automatically add this important date to your calendar.
Note: The Linked Calendar Appointment field cannot be used in participant custom data or multi-row data collections. |
