Keeping track of who is referring potential clients to us can be very important for our business.
If you would like to track who has been referring clients to you the you can follow the instructions below.
1. Set up a Participant Type - Referrer (some systems will already have this participant type just double check)
Go to Admin - Additional Settings - Participant Types (check to see if Referrer is already a participant type - if not, Add participant type Green box top right hand corner.
Enter participant name - a description - And whether it can be a company or an individual.
2. Add your participant type to the Matters where you want to track referrers.
Go to you Admin - Matter Types - Choose the Matter types where you want to add the Referrer Participant.
Go to Matter Type Settings - Scroll down to parties and then select add row and Add Referrer.
If you would like your staff to enter the referrer on a particular step of the workflow consider adding that party to a workflow step for example on the start step so when your staff are creating a matter they are prompted to enter in a referrer.
You can think about making this a required field if you want to make sure your staff are entering this however remember that they have to enter in a referrer to create or progress the matter so you may need to create a contact called no referrer for them to enter if it is impossible to find out who the referrer was or is not relevant.
3. Setting up a custom list view to provide a report on referrers
To set up a report so that you can track your referrers. Go to Admin - Custom List Views - Matter List views and create the columns are shown below.
