If you are a fixed fee firm and you know how much you want to bill on each step of a workflow you can use our scheduled payments feature.
Go to the matter you want to set up scheduled payments for - go to billing - and the matter billing options.
Go to billing arrangement - and select fixed fee - then input your fee quote - then change fixed fee bill frequency to custom schedule and set out how you want your fees billed.
In the example below we have quoted $5,000 excluding GST for our fees only. I am billing $1,000 on the engagement step and the description field will display in the invoice automatically as a narration (depending on your invoice template). I then am billing a further $2,500 on the application lodged step and then a further $1,500 on the application granted step.
This means that as the matter progresses through the workflow these fees will become billable on each step and will be sitting as WIP ready to be invoiced. You can set a pay on step so that the workflow is not able to be moved until those invoices have been paid.
Recurring Invoices
You may have a situation where you want to bill a client every month the same amount continually until the matter ceases.
This is also possible using the function above.
Go to the matter you want to set up recurring payments for - go to billing - and the matter billing options.
Go to billing arrangement - and select fixed fee - then input your fee quote - then set the billing frequency to every billing cycle.
In the example above the matter will be billed $1,000 every billing cycle - this means you will need to use mass billing and run your billing every month. Each month this amount will sit as WIP waiting to be billed automatically.
